- Academic Assistant/Associate Director of HLA Laboratory (Open Rank)
Description
The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh is now accepting applications for an academic-track faculty member to serve as Assistant or Associate Director of the Histocompatibility (HLA) Laboratory. This laboratory supports all solid-organ and bone marrow transplant programs at four hospitals of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, four external hospitals, and one OPO.
Requirements
Candidates must possess an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and be board-certified/eligible by the American College for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI). Experience and training in a high-complexity ASHI-certified/eligible clinical laboratory supporting solid organ and bone marrow transplantation are required. Applicants should also have strong academic credentials and will be encouraged to engage in research, including basic, clinical, and translational research, as well as development, and to pursue independent extramural funding. Strong consideration will be provided for those with funded programs, with commensurate space and transition funding provided. Other duties will include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and training.
