Description
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.
GMC has an opening for Architect to support on-going projects in the Atlanta, GA office. The Architect is responsible for leading the technical development and documentation of exceptional projects.
Essential functions and responsibilities include:
- Broad general knowledge of architectural principles and practices, and proven ability to apply them
- Ability to function effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects
- Understanding of entire project process-development/scoping, design, and construction
- Ability to design and detail a complete project, system component or process
- Prepares complete project documents including the coordination of Project Manual/Specifications
- Able to effectively plan their time to meet a project schedule independently
- Willing to lead and mentor a small group of less experienced staff members to produce portions of the project documents and meet the assigned schedule
- Understand professional and ethical responsibilities
- Visit sites to prepare as-built drawings of existing buildings and assess the conditions of building facilities in order to make recommendations of project scope
- Prepares construction document drawings in Revit
- Involved in Client and Contractor communications
- Coordinates with engineering consultants on assigned projects
- Engaged in field work associated with their projects
- Responds to contractors RFIs and communications during construction
- Review shop drawings for conformance with construction documents
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6+ years of architecture design experience
- Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture from an accredited architectural program
- Licensure is strongly preferred for this position. Unlicensed candidates should be actively working toward licensure.
- Proficient in Revit and willing to mentor and share best practices with young designers
- Proficient in technical aspects of architectural development and documentation (detailing, consultant coordination, contractor coordination, etc.) and willing to mentor and share best practices with young designers
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to perform work-related travel and have a valid driver's license
- Must be local to GMC office. Our team works in the office Monday through Thursday with the option for remote work on Fridays.
