Reporting to the VP, Operations & IT, the Associate Director, IT is a hands-on technical and management role. The incumbent will be responsible for a full range of activities associated with IT Infrastructure / Client Services, Security and Laboratory System Operations in both a GxP and non-GxP environment.  This individual will be responsible for building clinical, commercial and enterprise business application roadmaps and accountable for the on-time delivery of projects and programs with agreed budgets and deliverables. Responsibilities include enabling business objectives that drive high performance and skill competence.

  • Manage and support a 24/7/365 in-house enterprise service model providing tiered customer service for individual, site system, and communications problems including but not limited to infrastructure, scientific systems, desktop computing, mobility devices, printers, and peripheral devices
  • Manage local, hosted, and cloud-based applications, communications, data security, and disaster recovery
  • Engage with the business to identify and define scope for continuous improvement, innovation and Best Practice initiatives, and assist or lead those initiatives to improve the efficiency of processes and systems at the site                   
  • Execute the following areas within the Information Security & Risk Management
    • 1) Align all information security initiatives to the NIST Cybersecurity framework and measure overall program maturity leveraging that framework
    • 2) Accountable for network security, including server and network administration and application of software patches and security updates
    • 3) Change management and communications
    • 4) Cybersecurity training and awareness program
  • Work with key stakeholders, develop appropriate IT SOPs and ensure organization-wide compliance with such SOPs once adopted; SOPs will be developed and managed to ensure compliance with GxP standards, as well as Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls practices
  • Manage cGMP equipment changes in accordance with Site SOPs and company requirements
  • Exhibit a strong practical knowledge of manufacturing environmental monitoring and testing, and excellent understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
  • Manage overall IT budget to include purchasing, installing, maintaining, and tracking of all IT assets and applications.



The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related IT experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4+ years experience leading an IT team
  • Experience/certification related to cyber security governance, risk, and compliance, audits & assessments, or support and delivery of IT/Cyber security services, methods and practices
  • Experience handling implementation, training, and support for GxP manufacturing and clinical information management systems such as Veeva, Documentum, or similar systems, environmental monitoring, data capture
  • Experience handling implementation, training, and support for research and laboratory-specific information management systems such as ELN, LIMS, registries, and assay data management
  • Experience handling implementation, training, and support for business integration/ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Dynamics
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in partnership with others in a collaborative manner; executive presence including competence and comfort briefing executives and all levels of the organization
  • Passion to foster a culture of efficiency and high performance through initiatives, training, education, and communication

Travel Requirements

· 25% local travel to manufacturing site and as necessary
