AV Technical Producer:
The Technical Producer acts as the on-site technical lead for The Storytelling Company (TSC), bridging the gap between Project Management and the AV Engineering team. This role ensures the seamless execution of complex audiovisual installations by translating technical intent into precise field implementation. The Technical Producer oversees installation teams, validates millwork and AV integration drawings, drives redline reviews, and ensures the site is ready for commissioning. They combine strong field experience with practical AV system knowledge—ensuring every project is built to spec, on time, and to TSC’s quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the on-site technical representative during installation and commissioning phases.
- Review and contribute to AV and millwork drawings, ensuring serviceability, access, and alignment with design intent.
- Issue and track redlines through coordination with engineering and project management.
- Lead and guide installation teams, verifying methods, terminations, labeling, and rack builds meet TSC standards.
- Coordinate with general contractors, electricians, millworkers, and IT/networking teams to align site readiness.
- Conduct pre-commissioning readiness checks (power, network, endpoints, firmware, and signal paths).
- Manage and resolve site issues promptly; maintain accurate issue logs and punch lists.
- Support project planning and logistics by advising on installation sequencing, storage, and safety requirements.
- Assist in project closeout with as-built documentation and handover materials.

Requirements
Required Hard Skills
AV Systems and Integration
- Strong understanding of AV signal flow, control systems, audio processing, and video distribution.
- Hands-on experience installing, wiring, and aligning AV systems in commercial or experiential environments.
- Familiarity with rack fabrication, cable management, labeling standards, and device configuration.
Networking & Integration
- Working knowledge of networked AV (VLANs, PoE, IP addressing, device discovery).
- Experience collaborating with IT teams on switch configuration and AV-over-IP deployments.
- Understanding of Dante, Q-SYS, and other networked audio/video protocols.
Troubleshooting & Commissioning
- Ability to perform pre-commissioning readiness checks (power, firmware, signal verification).
- Skilled at diagnosing signal flow, device communication, and network-related issues.
- Experience using test gear such as cable testers, tone generators, and multimeters.
Tools and Drawings
- Proficiency reading and redlining AV, electrical, and millwork drawings
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or Vectorworks for field coordination.
- Capable of maintaining accurate as-builts and documenting on-site adjustments.
Hardware and AV Product Knowledge
- Working knowledge of major AV brands: Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Netgear AV, LG, Samsung, NEC, etc.
- Understanding of video wall systems, touchscreens, DSPs, amplifiers, and control interfaces.
- Awareness of current AV installation hardware, cabling, and mounting solutions.
Preferred Certifications and Experience
- AVIXA CTS or CTS-I
- Dante Level 2+
- Q-SYS Level 2
- Crestron Level 2
- Extron Control Professional
- Biamp Tesira
- Netgear AV Line Training
- CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA
- 3 - 5+ years of professional AV integration or technical supervision experience
