You will lead medium to complex data transfer using your Project Management expertise. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. Your excellent communication skills mean you're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with your development team. Successful candidates will have an insurance background with strong technical project management experience in Business Intelligence or Data Transfer, be detail driven, have excellent problem-solving abilities, have strong business judgment, and experience leading cross-functional teams.
Your project management expertise and operational excellence will influence the team's decisions, drive secure and robust solutions and produce high quality products to delight our customers and internal stakeholders. We are looking for leaders with proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically, and someone who is excited to take on new, ambiguous projects.
We execute work leveraging Agile Scrum and Waterfall frameworks.
How you'll make an impact
1.Direct development teams and drive the execution of the project schedule, scope, and budget throughout the project life cycle.
2.Lead and facilitate project sponsor meetings and team meetings. Provide project presentations to executive leadership groups and review and provide input on project deliverables.
3.Foster high reliability by initiating process improvement opportunities based on past project experiences and leads the business sponsor, stakeholders and project team to identify lessons learned and champions the improvement opportunities.
4.Execute Project Management and SDLC disciplines
- Comprehend and Embrace the Project Business Case: The right PM should be capable of focusing a project on the delivery of the business case and shaping the team's efforts to achieve a solution and time frame that align with the business needs.
- Estimate Projects: The right PM should be comfortable working with business resources, technology architects and other IT resources to create Top Down (e.g. T-Shirt size) and Bottom Up (deliverable or task based) hours and dollars estimates.
- Plan Projects: Prioritizing completing efforts, securing resources from other managers and integrating those resources into a detailed work plan that reflects tasks and associated estimates is a fundamental responsibility of a PM at GB.
- Monitor and Report Progress: Following industry and organizational standard project management processes to keep projects on task and ensure the project is progressing as planned. Status should be reported and communicated at the appropriate level of detail to the team, IT management and business stakeholders. The successful Project Manager will be experienced in monitoring project vs the plan, identifying course corrections that may be required and keeping project management deliverables (e.g. work plans, estimates) up to date as these changes occur.
- Track and Manage the Budget: The successful candidate will be capable of tracking the financial status of a project throughout the project lifecycle, escalating potential problems. Manage costs and resource allocation among projects. Collect and analyze actual costs, time and scope delivered against plan.
- Manage Issues and Risks: As the project experiences issues, the PM should be adept at clearly identifying and articulating the true blocker and then executing steps to drive the issue to a conclusion; escalating when needed.
- Control Change: The right project manager should keep the team focused on the original plan, be capable of identifying the differences between changes that are just detailed requirements vs. a fundamental change - and follow a rigorous process to gain management approval for those changes.
- Communicate: We are a matrixed organization, and as such, it is important for a PM to be aligned with the team, the business and IT management. The right PM will understand how to communicate across audiences and be able to do so in an efficient manner to ensure client expectations are in line with project goals and objectives.
