The Opportunity to Influence and Elevate
As Director, Public Investments, you will help shape a sophisticated, purpose-driven investment platform that delivers both performance and prudence, balancing innovation with integrity in the service of long-term value creation. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, the Director provides strategic and operational leadership for Plannera’s public markets function, guiding a team of investment analysts responsible for multiple pension and benefit plans. This role combines portfolio oversight, policy development, and performance accountability with mentorship and professional development for a technically strong team. The Director will help modernize processes, strengthen analytical capacity, and position the function for greater in-house execution where it adds value.
This is a visible and high-impact leadership role offering the opportunity to influence investment decisions that directly affect the financial well-being of thousands of members. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with boards, commissions, consultants, and external managers, ensuring transparency, governance excellence, and alignment with Plannera’s mission. They will also serve as a key strategic partner to the CIO in shaping the evolution of Plannera’s investment platform and contributing to upcoming strategic reviews.

Credentials That Distinguish You
You bring a strong foundation of academic and professional credentials, complemented by proven institutional investment experience. A degree in finance, economics, commerce, or a related discipline is required, supported by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or an equivalent professional qualification. With several years of progressive experience in public markets, asset allocation, or portfolio management within a pension fund, endowment, or comparable institutional environment, you demonstrate deep knowledge of global equity and fixed income markets, investment policy development, and governance best practices. You are adept at interpreting market trends, managing risk within disciplined frameworks, and communicating complex investment concepts with clarity and confidence to boards, executives, and partners. A background that blends strategic insight, analytical depth, and fiduciary responsibility will distinguish those best prepared to thrive in this role.
