The Finance Manager - Mortgage Division serves as a strategic financial leader, responsible for directing the fiscal operations, performance analytics, and regulatory compliance of the Mortgage Division. This role partners closely with executive leadership, lending operations, and risk management to ensure financial integrity, optimize capital deployment, and drive sustainable growth. The Finance Manager leads a high-performing team of mortgage finance professionals, overseeing transactional accuracy, financial reporting, and strategic planning initiatives that align with enterprise objectives.Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, fostering accountability, and cultivating continuous learning and professional development.
- Translate organizational strategy into actionable team goals, aligning financial priorities with broader business objectives.
- Mentor and coach direct reports to build technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Lead change management initiatives within the finance team, promoting agility and resilience in a dynamic regulatory and market environment.
Financial Strategy, Planning & Analysis
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring precision, timeliness, and alignment with GAAP and internal standards.
- Deliver comprehensive financial reporting packages, including executive dashboards, variance analyses, and performance insights to inform strategic decision-making.
- Lead the development of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial plans in collaboration with divisional and enterprise stakeholders.
- Design and implement financial models to evaluate profitability, cost efficiency, and capital utilization across mortgage products and channels.
- Manage incentive compensation frameworks for sales staff, ensuring alignment with performance metrics, transparency, and compliance.
Mortgage Transaction Oversight & Treasury Operations
- Direct all cash management activities related to mortgage loan funding, investor sales, and warehouse line utilization, ensuring liquidity and operational continuity.
- Maintain oversight of the mortgage banking accounting system, ensuring data integrity, reconciliation accuracy, and system optimization.
- Monitor investor remittances, warehouse line draws/paydowns, and secondary market transactions, ensuring timely execution and compliance with investor guidelines.
- Collaborate with capital markets and post-close teams to support securitization, loan sales, and hedging strategies.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Design and maintain a robust internal control environment over financial reporting, mitigating risk and ensuring audit readiness.
- Ensure full compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements (e.g., CFPB, OCC), and investor guidelines.
- Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audits, coordinating documentation, walkthroughs, and remediation efforts.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and system controls to support scalability and regulatory alignment.

Education, Experience, and Other Expectations
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- CPA, CFA, or MBA is preferred, especially with a focus in financial management or banking.
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in financial management or accounting.
- At least 5 years of direct experience in mortgage banking or mortgage accounting.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Deep understanding of mortgage banking operations, including loan origination, funding, servicing, and secondary market transactions.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements applicable to mortgage finance (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
