As an Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you utilize strong knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Apply your technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies across multiple applications of moderate scope.

Job responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and decommission Check Point and Fortinet firewalls across hardware and virtual deployments in hybrid public cloud environments.
• Implement and enforce security policies and rule sets on Check Point and Fortinet firewalls in alignment with firm security standards.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues end to end, identifying drops along the network path and resolving root causes.
• Analyze network traffic on firewalls to detect anomalies, optimize policies, and improve performance and security posture.
• Perform regular software upgrades, security patches, and platform migrations for firewall infrastructure and management servers.
• Configure and manage firewall policies and controls via management servers, ensuring consistent and auditable changes.
• Develop and maintain scripts to automate repetitive activities and streamline firewall deployments and operational tasks.
• Respond to security incidents, investigate potential breaches, and apply containment and remediation on firewall controls.
• Participate in security audits and risk assessments; address findings and maintain compliant configurations and documentation.
• Develop and maintain documentation for firewall policies, procedures, standards, and operational runbooks.
• Mentor junior team members, provide technical guidance, and contribute to on-call support including off-hours and weekends.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 3+ years applied experience
• Hands-on experience on at least one enterprise firewall platform such as Check Point, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or cloud-native firewalls.
• Demonstrate proficiency installing, configuring, operating, and decommissioning Check Point and Fortinet firewalls in hybrid cloud environments.
• Configure and manage virtual firewalls and hardware appliances with high availability and policy consistency.
• Apply working knowledge of dynamic routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF, in firewall and data center contexts.
• Diagnose and resolve firewall-related connectivity issues, including path analysis and policy/NAT troubleshooting.
• Analyze firewall logs and traffic flows using built-in and external tools to support incident response and optimization.
• Script and automate deployment and operational tasks using languages or frameworks suitable for network automation.
• Execute software upgrades, security patching, and migration activities with change control and rollback planning.
• Administer site-to-site and remote-access VPNs, including policy, cipher, and certificate management.
• Support 24x7 operations with participation in rotational on-call and flexibility for off-hours/weekend activities.
