- Lead Rigging Engineer

Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
Rigging/Heavy Haul Tech Expert/Training Coordinator
- Serves as Master Trainer for all rigging/heavy haul related training including Competent Person Rigger. Must have capability to conduct Train the Trainer.
- Conducts coaching of craft personnel during field assessments and observations, ensuring best practices are being utilized.
- Responsible for working with project training team to ensure rigging/heavy haul training programs are properly set up and being executed by qualified instructors.
- Assist in assessment of the deployment and set up of all required rigging/heavy haul training programs across all projects under their purview.
- Assist in developing rigging training curriculum per project specific requirements.
Cert Rigging Eng / Heavy Haul
- Provides knowledge and technical support in developing rigging, heavy haul, transport, and lift strategies for project management and field engineering personnel.
- Prepares technical specifications for bid packages.
- Assesses technical proposals of subcontractor bid packages for lifting and abnormal transport.
- Coordinates with subcontractors in the preparation of timely and compliant lift and site transport plans.
- Develops critical lift/heavy haul and transport studies as a Bechtel Certified Rigging Engineer (CRE).
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive working knowledge of rigging planning and execution standards and requirements. Technical knowledge and experience in construction engineering in the use of lifting equipment, alternative heavy lifting systems, mobile gantries, jacking, tailing, rigging equipment, and load distribution systems, including an understanding of transport/transfer of equipment, soil mechanics, and structural steel design.
- Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration. Knowledge and understanding of environmental, safety and health requirements on heavy-industrial construction projects.
- Knowledge in the administration and use of subcontracts; ability to interpret and understand contractor/subcontractors’ responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
- Experience in supervising personnel and administering subcontractors preferred. Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways.
