As a Lead Full Stack Engineer, you will lead the development of complex features and be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle from requirements to implementation. This position requires the ability to adapt to challenging problems and a desire to work as an essential part of a high performing team. All team members are expected to keep abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and frameworks and to display industry competitive skills and techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java 21, React, and JavaScript.
- Modernize legacy systems, frameworks and architectures.
- Collaborate with architects and business stakeholders to define and implement technical solutions within the Retirement/Financial Services domain.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and manage deployments on AWS.
- Utilize GitHub Copilot to enhance development productivity and maintain code quality.
- Analyze and optimize applications for performance and scalability.
- Write optimized queries against relational databases, primarily Oracle DB.
- Mentor junior engineers and help them grow technically and professionally.
- Make and document key technical decisions. Identify technical risks and propose alternate solutions.
- Break down large pieces of work into smaller, achievable tasks. Identify and document technical user stories for implementation by other team members.
- Track and manage project work using JIRA and follow Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Remove impediments for the team.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of software development experience with strong proficiency in Java (including Java 21) and react.
- Cloud experience, preferably AWS, with knowledge of services like EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and CloudFormation.
- Solid understanding of front-end technologies like HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience in modernizing legacy systems through technology stack upgrades, code refactoring and optimization.
- Good understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle DB & Postgres DB, including performance tuning and complex SQL queries.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, and source control using GitHub.
- Familiarity with AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills include active listening, presenting and team building.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong sense of self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail.
- An intellectual curiosity to understand how, and why, systems function in their current state.
- Enthusiastic about learning and acquiring new skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using JIRA.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in the Retirement or Financial Services domain.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Education:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
