ITT Goulds Pumps is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Seneca Falls, NY. The Manufacturing Engineer will lead and support complex manufacturing initiatives focused on improving production efficiency, process reliability, and cost effectiveness across the organization. This role requires hands-on experience with capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, assembly operations, machine shop environments, and logistics integration. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical acumen with exceptional project management and cross-functional collaboration skills to drive continuous improvement and deliver manufacturing excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead, plan, and execute CAPEX projects from concept through implementation, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and in-scope delivery.
- Develop and optimize assembly operations, ensuring ergonomic design, lean workflows, and scalable processes.
- Oversee layout and design of manufacturing cells, machining centers, and assembly lines for efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to improve material flow, warehouse layout, and inventory management.
- Implement and maintain best practices in manufacturing process documentation, tooling, and equipment qualification.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM methodologies.
- Develop cost models, ROI justifications, and financial tracking for all major engineering projects.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians on manufacturing principles, safety, and quality systems.
- Participate in Gemba walks and act on escalations by implementing engineering solutions.
- Employ Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to increase manufacturing capacity, productivity, and overall operational effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain standard work instructions for the various production areas.
- Ability to read and create CAD models. Exposure to Creo Pro-E preferred.
- Perform Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
- Communicate with programmers, production management, machinists, operators, and engineering to achieve solutions to both capacity planning and quality level.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (master's preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering, preferably in advanced or high-mix, low-volume environments.
- Proven success managing CAPEX projects exceeding $500K from proposal to commissioning
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, precision assembly, and production line automation preferred
- PMP certification or formal project management training preferred.
- Experience with facility layout design, robotics, and advanced automation technologies preferred.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional project teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
