Martin Specialty Coatings (MSC) is a full-service coatings contractor providing turnkey protective
coating and specialty flooring solutions for industrial facilities and commercial construction

Position Summary
The Industrial Coatings & Resinous Flooring Project Manager leads projects from award through
closeout, with a major focus on resinous flooring systems in industrial and commercial
environments. This role is responsible for planning, scheduling, budgeting, and field execution of
surface preparation, coatings, and flooring installation. The Project Manager ensures work is
completed safely, on time, within budget, and to specification, while maintaining
MSC’s quality standards and delivering an exceptional client experience.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
Manage industrial coatings and resinous flooring projects from pre-job planning through final
punch list and turnover.
Develop project execution plans covering scope, work methods, staffing, equipment, materials,
sequencing, and site logistics.
Lead system selection and installation planning for resinous flooring (prep, moisture mitigation,
primer/base/topcoat selection, cure windows).
Coordinate surface preparation and application activities per spec, product data sheets, and
industry standards.
Lead jobsite start-ups, daily execution, QC checkpoints, and closeout documentation.
Resinous Flooring Focus
Oversee installation of resinous flooring systems such as epoxy, urethane cement, MMA,
polyaspartic, acrylic/PU, and decorative broadcast/flaked systems.
Plan and verify proper substrate evaluation and prep (ICRI CSP profiling, shot blasting,
grinding, scarification, patching, crack/joint treatment).
Manage environmental and substrate condition controls (RH, dew point, moisture vapor emission,
slab temperature) to ensure system performance.
Coordinate sequencing with client operations to minimize downtime in production environments.
Safety & Compliance
Champion MSC’s safety culture; ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific requirements.
Conduct/coordinate JSAs, daily tailgates, permit processes, and corrective actions as needed.
Maintain required safety and training documentation.
Financial & Schedule Management
Build and manage budgets; track labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs.
Forecast cost-to-complete and manage change orders, billing, and margin performance.
Create and own schedules; proactively remove constraints to hit key milestones.
Field Leadership
Direct and support field supervisors/foremen and craft teams; ensure proper staffing levels and
productivity.
Coordinate equipment and material procurement; manage vendors and subcontractors.
Coach teams on best practices for flooring/coatings quality, safety, and efficiency.
Client Communication & Stakeholder Management
Serve as primary point of contact for clients, facility managers, and general contractors.
Lead progress meetings, communicate risks, and provide accurate status updates.
Resolve project issues quickly to protect schedule, budget, and relationships.
Quality Control & Documentation
Ensure coatings and flooring systems meet project specs and standards (profile, DFT, adhesion,
cure, slip resistance, chemical resistance, UV stability, etc.).
Oversee inspections, test reports, daily logs, and final turnover packages.
Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of project management experience in industrial coatings, resinous flooring,
corrosion control, or closely related construction services.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, or related
field OR equivalent industry experience.
Demonstrated success leading field operations in active industrial/commercial environments.
Strong working knowledge of resinous flooring systems, concrete substrate assessment and
preparation methods, surface prep and industrial coating application processes, and applicable
standards/manufacturer requirements (SSPC/AMPP/NACE/OSHA and flooring manufacturer data sheets).
Excellent organization, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Proficiency with job cost tracking and PM tools (MS Project/Procore/Excel or similar).
Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to jobsites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Estimating experience for industrial coatings/resinous flooring (takeoffs, productivity planning,
system selection).
Certifications: PMP, AMPP/SSPC PCI, NACE CIP, OSHA 30, manufacturer resinous flooring training,
ICRI CSP expertise.
Experience managing shutdown/turnaround work or phased flooring installs in operating facilities.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work performed in active industrial facilities and construction environments. Must be able to walk
jobsites, climb ladders/stairs/scaffolding, access elevated areas, work in varying environmental
conditions, and wear required PPE/respirators as job conditions dictate.
