About the Position
As a Project Manager- Lighting Control Specialist, you will oversee all aspects of lighting installations. The role combines technical knowledge of lighting and electrical systems with strong project management skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the client's specifications.
Day in the Life
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with clients, sales representatives, and technical teams.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including budget forecasting, cost management, and resource allocation.
- Analyze and review construction documents, electrical plans, and specifications.
- Coordinate submittals and product specifications for client and contractor approval.
- Manage project schedules, track progress, and communicate status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and manufacturers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate meetings to address project kickoff, troubleshooting, and closeout.
- Coordinate with vendors to order materials, track shipments, and expedite deliveries as needed.
- Work with electricians and contractors to coordinate on-site installation and field service visits.
- Provide technical assistance and support for architectural lighting, controls, and LED systems.
- Oversee the creation and review of project documentation, such as bills of materials (BOM), wiring diagrams, and installation details.
- Ensure all installations comply with electrical codes, industry standards, and safety guidelines.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks, obstacles, and delays.
- Conduct site walks and inspections to monitor project progress and verify completion.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of labor agreements and standards specific to projects
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or IBEW Apprentice Training Certificate or equivalent in job experience.
- Typically requires 2-5 years of experience in project management, specifically within the electrical or lighting industries.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Outstanding interpersonal and team leadership skills.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code/IBC and NFPA-72
- Must possess a strong attention to detail and ensure maximum quality of work throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Experience with Accubid a plus.
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu a plus.
- Experience with lighting controls and electrical systems is highly beneficial.
Travel
- Travel to project sites as required, which may include temporary relocation for the duration of the project.
