This position manages, organizes, administers and coordinates the facility's Quality department programs and policies in support of the Mission and Values. The incumbent is the Management representative with authority and responsibility to ensure the quality management system is in compliance. Responsible to create, implement and maintain the quality management system, customer requirements, and the reporting of the quality system performance.
The Quality Manager is the leader of the Corrective Action system. This system investigates customer complaint, product failures, etc., and prepares a response to the problem. The committee also reviews internal quality costs and makes recommendations for improvements. The Quality Manager provides guidance to the Value Stream Manager for the layered audit process.
Will meet Business Plan objectives communicated through plant, department, and any job specific performance measures.
Persons in this position will be evaluated according to their ability to understand, follow and demonstrate the Leadership Standards. The responsibility, authority and the interrelation of personnel who manage, perform and verify work affecting quality shall be defined and documented, particularly for personnel who need the organizational freedom and authority to represent the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing IATF 16949 requirements (e.g. selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives, training, corrective & preventive actions, product design and development).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Drive the Quality Department to achieve scrap reduction targets.
· Conducts daily review of MRB and hold tag material for disposition. Actively pursues root cause solutions and corrections for product in CS1/CS2 sorting and 100% internal inspection.
· Promptly responds to problem cases with customers to request information, conduct 5Y or 8D analysis, and drive to implement permanent corrective actions.
· Review customer scorecards on a monthly frequency, at minimum, to determine targeted improvements with action plans.
· Actively involved with understanding, implementing, and managing requirements for IATF 16949 and Q1 certifications. Ensures equipment calibrations are compliant and updated.
· Manages and administers the Plex databases including layered audits and corrective actions. Ensures data and actions are reviewed for continuous improvement of specific actions and overall quality systems.
· Stimulate and maintain employee interest in quality control utilizing displays of scrapped parts, posters, etc., in order to appeal to the employee's pride in producing a quality product. The incumbent assures adequate dissemination of information on quality programs to Division personnel.
· Chair the Corrective Action system. This system investigates customer complaints, product failures, etc. and prepares a response to the problem.
· Oversee the development of all inspection procedures and tests, both for receiving in-process and finished product inspections. The position is accountable for developing and carrying out quality policy and for developing quality systems with emphasis on prevention.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· This position oversees quality engineers, auditors, quality engineering technicians and CMM programmers.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Incumbent must have Certified Quality Auditor and Certified Quality Engineer certificates or be actively working toward them as defined by the Plant Manager. Lean Manufacturing Certification or training, experience with implementation of Lean Philosophies and Methods, Six Sigma, Problem Solving Training or related experience.
Skills and Abilities
· Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
· Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
· Computer Skills: Must have or acquire computer skills such as DOS, Statistical Software, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, etc.
· Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or customers.
