The Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company (TTSTC) is a special-purpose entity that manages, safeguards, and invests public funds and securities belonging to the state of Texas, its agencies and local political subdivisions of the state. TTSTC’s special-purpose entity status provides the Comptroller’s office direct access to specialized investment services and programs enabling the Comptroller to achieve the highest return at the lowest cost to the state.
General description
Join TTSTC External Investments team as a Senior Investment Analyst! This role performs senior-level fundamental investment market research and analysis, due diligence, investment monitoring, and preparation of Investment Committee and Board materials for investments in public and private credit markets. Work involves researching, analyzing, and evaluating fund investments and other investment information to implement approved investment policies and programs..

Work Hours
Agency standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, 40 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend hours. Hours are subject to change based upon business need or division determination.
This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in finance, accounting, mathematics, business administration, or a related field.
Five (5) years of total investment experience, preferably at an endowment, foundation, OCIO firm, family office, fund of funds, investment bank, consulting firm, or a similar organization allocating capital to external investment managers.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA, MSF, JD or other relevant graduate degree.
Experience in Private credit markets
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA); Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) are preferred.
A valid Texas (or state of residency) driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are a condition of employment. Applicants offered an interview must present the following documents at or before the interview: A state issued driving record for the last 36 months; valid Texas driver’s license (or state of residency driver’s license); and current proof of automobile insurance.
In this role you will
Existing portfolios:
Assist Portfolio Managers and the CIO in evaluating and monitoring existing external manager investments and co-investments, with an emphasis on exposures within private credit markets.
Contribute to asset allocation, portfolio construction, and risk management.
Communicate with potential managers via in-person meetings or phone calls on a regular basis and be able to speak to portfolio-related events knowledgeably.
Lead portfolio reporting efforts, including maintaining internal databases, preparing periodic portfolio reviews and creating materials for internal Investment Team and relevant Board meetings.
Conduct ongoing analysis for the existing portfolios; maintain and update information held in internal systems to ensure proper manager monitoring.
Coordinate with consultants to ensure proper coverage and analysis of potential investment opportunities and to develop pacing and asset allocation plans for assigned portfolios.
Prospective portfolio relationships:
Support the senior team in sourcing and underwriting new fund investments with external managers in addition to prospective co-investment opportunities.
Contribute meaningfully in the area of investment due diligence on prospective opportunities, including qualitative and quantitative analysis of investment strategy, process, portfolio construction, organization, and performance.
Prepare ad-hoc investment memos and present during Investment Committee meetings and other internal/external meetings.
Communicate with potential managers via in-person meetings or phone calls on a regular basis.
General Research and Analysis & Personal Development:
Assist Portfolio Managers and the CIO with developing opportunistic and strategic investment themes, areas of focus, special projects, and prepare associated reports and presentations for consideration.
Represent the organization at industry conferences and manager annual meetings, fostering relationships and upholding TTSTC’s brand and reputation.
Read macroeconomic, microeconomic, financial, general business, and geopolitical research and analysis.
Participate in internal and/or external training and development opportunities.
