JOB DESCRIPTIONAs a Software Engineer on our Reinsurance IT team, you will take a hands-on and strategic approach to your role - reviewing existing applications with a critical, technical eye to guide future development. You will play a pivotal role as a technical analyst in Chubb's application modernization initiative. Collaborating closely with technical leads and architects, you will dive deep into codebases, assess architectural patterns, and establish robust technical roadmaps that drive scalable, optimized digital platforms. Your responsibilities will include conducting in-depth technical reviews of legacy and current applications to identify modernization opportunities and technical debt, guiding development teams by recommending best practices, modern frameworks, and architectural improvements, and partnering with business stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions are tightly aligned with reinsurance business objectives and operational needs. Leveraging your strong IT skills and reinsurance domain knowledge, you will support and enhance reinsurance applications while leading and influencing the technical direction for modernizing the FIRST applications within a dynamic, evolving technology stack. In this role, you are not just building software-you are shaping the technical strategy, ensuring that every modernization effort is both technically sound and business-driven. Your analytical mindset and technical expertise will be essential in driving impactful, future-ready solutions for Chubb's enterprise-wide digital transformation.
In this role, you will:
- Engage in the solution design, development, and implementation of IT solutions for Reinsurance
- Build and implement complex, large-scale applications capable of integrating with multiple internal/external systems - policy, claim, document/imaging, billing, and financial reporting
- Strategize and support the migration of the FIRST applications to modernized platform
- Lead and guide vendor development teams while collaborating with internal IT architects, infrastructure, and security teams
- Understand tools, approaches, and processes within Chubb framework to optimize solutions and mitigate risks
- Focus and foster Chubb standards related to usability, stability, performance, and security
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 10+ years of hands-on development experience building end-to-end software applications utilizing the Microsoft technology stack: C#, .Net Framework, Genius (COTS product), Informatica Power Center, API-driven integrations, XML, JSON, AS400, COBOL, Majesco, Mainframe, DB2, PowerBI, Cognos, Power Query, Rating engine Ratabase
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology or a related technical discipline
- Demonstrate deep understanding of SQL Server and database architecture, with the ability to develop and maintain PL/SQL Packages, Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Functions in SQL Server
- Exhibit expertise in developing and securing web services using C# and .NET
- Apply strong understanding of claims integration, premium settlement, and reinsurance billing in foreign currencies
- Possess working knowledge of reinsurance processes and practices
- Maintain reinsurance background as a requirement
- Leverage knowledge of both Agile Project Management and DevOps tools and practices, including JIRA, ServiceNow, Confluence, MS Project, MS Visio, Clarity, GitHub, Jenkins
- Utilize knowledge with cloud solutions (Azure preferred)
- Utilize knowledge with Azure Development (IAAS, PAAS, Key vault, Azure functions, Blob, App Insights)
- Policy Administration, Claims, Billings, and Collection considered a plus
