Job Summary:
The Media Technical Director is a staff leader reporting to Mount Zion Baptist Church leadership. In this pivotal role, the director is responsible for all aspects of media production and leveraging technology and creative content to support and enhance worship experiences, promote church events, and engage with the congregation and the wider community. The director will lead the media equipment upgrade project.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Vision:
Lead the Media Ministry team, including staff and volunteers, by providing vision, direction, and support.
Develop and implement a strategic plan for using media and technology to further the church’s mission.
Worship Service Enhancement:
Oversee and lead the production of multimedia elements that enhance worship services, including live streaming, video content, graphics, and sound.
Manage the technical aspects of worship services, such as camera work, lighting, sound mixing, and presentation software.
Collaborate with the Creative Arts Ministry Minister on the production of the worship services.
Creative Content Development:
Create engaging and visually appealing graphics and content that supports sermons, announcements, and church activities.
Develop promotional materials for events, ministries, and outreach programs, utilizing videos, social media graphics, and digital communications.
Technology Management:
Manage the church’s media and technology infrastructure, including audio-visual equipment, live streaming platforms, and content management systems.
Ensure all equipment is well-maintained, updated, and operates smoothly during services and events.
Serves as the liaison with the church technology provider and provides basic technical support for the church staff and volunteers.
Community Engagement and Outreach:
Utilize media to extend the church’s reach, connecting with both the congregation and the broader community through social media, live streams, and digital outreach.
Collaborate with other church ministries to develop content that promotes community involvement and outreach initiatives.
Training and Team Development:
Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers and staff in media roles, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.
Provide ongoing training on new technologies and best practices in media production.
Quality Control and Consistency:
Ensure that all media content is consistent with the church’s branding and messaging, maintaining a high standard of quality across all platforms.
Regularly review and assess media outputs to improve and innovate continually.

Compensation and Benefits:

Requirements
Primary Skills and Qualifications
Education associates degree, bachelor’s degree or 5-7 years of professional experience in communications and media or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in a production role at a medium to large church in a modern worship production environment is preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in technology in video production, audio engineering, and live streaming.
Software: Proficiency in ProPresenter and Planning Center.
Leadership: Ability to lead and inspire a team, including volunteers and staff, with a clear vision for the media ministry. A servant-leader mindset that prioritizes collaboration, mentorship, and the development of team members.
Creativity and Innovation: A creative thinker who can develop innovative content that engages the congregation and enhances worship experiences. Ability to translate ideas into compelling visual and audio media.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and work effectively with church leaders, staff, and volunteers.
Problem-Solving: Skilled in troubleshooting technical issues quickly, especially during live events.
