Position Announcement

Director of Data and Impact |Mat-Su Health Foundation |Wasilla, Alaska

Mat-Su Health Foundation (MSHF) seeks a forward-thinking, data-driven leader to serve as its new Director of Data and Impact. The Director of Data and Impact will advance the use of data and analytics at MSHF to better understand and address the community’s needs, evaluate the impact of the foundation’s investments and initiatives, and to tell the story of both the community’s health and the foundation’s work. This pivotal position will bring an equity lens and ensure an authentic community voice is included in research and evaluation efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse communities addressing health and social issues with a commitment to an epidemiological approach and prevention-focused solutions.

The salary range is $90,000 to $115,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Mat-Su Health Foundation offers a comprehensive benefits package and is an at-will employer.

Requirements

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate

While no one candidate will embody all the qualifications enumerated below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes and experiences:

  • Advanced degree in public health, health informatics, determinants of health or equivalent, with at least ten years of relevant work experience
  • At least 5-10 years of data analytics experience working with diverse communities, coalitions, and/or groups on health and social issues; Experience with community-based participatory research is preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit or philanthropic settings.
  • Commitment to upstream, prevention-focused solutions, and an epidemiological approach.
  • Forward-thinker with the ability to translate data and theory into action and collaborate via strategic discussion with executive-level staff.
  • Experience advancing equity through deep investment in a community. Welcomes and honors differences in perspective, identity, and culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a talent for working with diverse learning styles; a natural curiosity for gleaning knowledge from others while also feeling empowered to advance an organizational conversation around the effective use of data and measurement at all levels.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with excellent project management and organizational skills; passion for continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ability to effectively manage and supervise consultants, interns, and similar project relationships.
  • Alaska knowledge and experience, preferred
