


















Description
Staffed by knowledgeable and experienced persons with sufficient educational background and/or experience to qualify them to work in several phases of computer operations/programs and help desk facilities. This position is typically a day shift with after-hours/on-call support availability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs a variety of preventative maintenance duties to help assure the consistent performance of operating systems; receives system changes from vendors and makes directed updates to ensure continuing compliance with contracted agreements; reviews accompanying documentation and advises all affected personnel of any changes respecting their function.
Monitors various technical aspects of the operating systems and support packages to anticipate future requirements with respect to capacity, scope of operation, and general enhancements; maintains and/or improves clients’ relationship.
Assists clients as well as other company programmers in responding to any undiagnosed problems in the system to determine origin and nature; remedies problem and/or notifies appropriate support personnel.
Participates in the anticipation, identification and solution of problems in a constructive and positive manner. Trains and orients company and client personnel. Encourages and models open and direct communication with company and client personnel. Provides back-up support to other programmers as needed.
Completes assigned projects with minimal amount of direction and/or supervision. Provides technical expertise to clients and company personnel. Conducts in-service programs for company and/or client personnel. Proficient in to reading and writing the English language.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
B.S. degree in Computer Science or Information Systems with four years of programming experience, OR eleven years of equivalent business/educational experience. Competent in most phases of computer operations. Has experience in at least four of the following subsystems: PC Services, CICS, DATA mgmt, Network, OPS. Additional specialized training in subsystems desirable.
