Job Description: 0.6 FTE Behavioural Interventionist Position
Position Title: Behavioural Interventionist
Reports To: Behavioural Consultant, BC Family Hearing Resource Society (BCFHRS).
Job Summary:
The Behavioural Interventionist (BI) works under the overall supervision of the Executive Director of the BC Family Hearing Resource Society (BCFHRS) and will report directly to the Behavioural Consultant. The Behavioural Interventionist implements one-to-one intervention program developed by a multidisciplinary team for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and with kids with significant behaviours due to ASD or significant social-emotional regulation issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate and maintain a positive and professional relationship with DHH clients and their families, all members of the organization’s staff and volunteers, government ministries and community partners.
- Adheres to the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the B.C. Family Hearing Resource Society as well as CARF Accreditation Standards.
- Provides behavioural support services for DHH children with language & communication needs, age birth to school entry.
- Provides behavioral education and support services to families of DHH children with communication needs and ASD as requested in coordination with the program coordinators and behavioural consultant.
- Prepares home and preschool programs for individual DHH clients as appropriate.
- Functions as part of the team at BCFHRS.
- Attends designated staff meetings, prepares reports, maintains progress records and maintains statistics for the Client Information Management System.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development and growth.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Working Conditions
- Work may occur at BCFHRS offices, in homes, or community settings,
- Travel between client locations may be required.
- Flexible scheduling, including occasional evenings or weekends, may be necessary.
Salary Range: $22,932 - $25,116

Requirements
Education requirements/Qualifications
- A high school diploma or post-secondary training in the Human Service Field, with a preference for Early Childhood Education is required.
- A college diploma or bachelor’s degree is preferred in fields:
- Psychology
- Education
- Child and Youth Care
- Social Work
- Behaviour Analysis
- Speech-Language Pathology (or related fields).
- Training in Applied Behavioural Analysis.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- An original copy of the University transcript confirming completion of the required training must be provided (CARF accreditation requires all transcripts be sent directly to us).
- Standard First Aid/CPR-C/AED Certificate
Work experience/other requirements:
- Several years experience working with young DHH children with developmental disabilities.
- Valid BC Driver’s License/Access to reliable transportation.
Other Requirements:
- Well-developed interpersonal, verbal/ASL and written communication skills, especially with regard to data collection and reporting.
- Ability to take direction and to follow planned programs.
- Ability to identify priorities, organize work and carry out the duties of the position with independence.
- Ability to follow instruction and to work cooperatively and effectively at BCFHRS, a child’s home or in a childcare environment.
- General understanding and knowledge of computers, data entry and Microsoft Office products.
