Description
SynopsisThis role reports to the Senior Business Analyst. The Business Analyst will work as part of the project delivery team to gather, analyse, review and document the business' requirements. They will identify and examine business needs and determine timely and effective solutions to business problems. They will act as a bridge between the business and the DTI team.
The Business Analyst will work with the Senior Business Analyst to align on the tools and methods to be used to ensure consistency in requirement gathering and management. This role will work as an integral member of IT delivery projects and develop close relationships with all areas of the business.
Accountabilities
- Plan, facilitate and participate in requirement gathering sessions with the business through meetings and/ or workshops
- Capture the business requirements and functional specifications of the business and prepare a comprehensive and accurate requirement specification document
- Work with the Senior Business Analyst to complete a requirement walk-through and sign-off with key stakeholders
- Facilitate clarification meetings with the business and project delivery teams to ensure all requirements are fully understood and documented
- Assess the impact, risks and benefits for various requirements and proposed solutions
- Work with the business and Project Manager to understand the relative priority of requirements, and propose phasing options to help achieve objectives
- Verify with business stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle to ensure the solution design accurately portrays and meets the specific business needs and objectives
- Clarify technical queries on behalf of the business and validate fixes to defects
- Work with the delivery teams to develop well thought out and robust business cases for future projects and initiatives
- Responsible for requirement management throughout the lifecycle of the project delivery
Education & Experience
- 3+ years' experience working as a Business Analyst, completing requirements gathering and conducting business analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent is mandatory
- Knowledge and experience of working within an IT delivery environment, business analysis methodologies, processes, procedures and techniques is essential
- Certification in Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent is beneficial
- Knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
- Evaluate and address project risks and issues accurately and objectively
- Proven experience in eliciting and managing requirements throughout the project delivery lifecycle and generating documentation
- Effective interpersonal skills including collaborating, team building, and communication skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders
- Strong analytical and organisational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
