Director of Structural Heart in Danbury, Connecticut
Northwell Health’s Department of Cardiology is seeking a Director of Structural Heart to join the Northwell Cardiovascular Institute at Danbury Hospital, Connecticut. The ideal candidate will be board-certified in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology with specialized training in structural heart with a minimum of 5 years of post fellowship experience The position includes time for clinical activities, leadership, operations, and academic pursuits.
Danbury Hospital is a tertiary center providing comprehensive, patient-centered cardiovascular care. From prevention and early detection to advanced intervention, surgery, and rehabilitation, our state-of-the-art facilities house advanced diagnostic capabilities, including advanced echocardiography, CT, and MRI. We perform complex coronary interventions and advanced structural heart procedures, including TAVR, MitraClip, and evolving tricuspid program. Our electrophysiology team manages complex arrhythmias, including ablation therapies, device implantations, and left atrial appendage occlusion. Our cardiothoracic surgery program provides the full spectrum of care, including complex mitral valve and aortic surgery. All of our care is delivered by highly skilled, multidisciplinary teams committed to superior clinical outcomes and personalized treatment plans for eachpatient across Western Connecticut, and beyond.
Specific responsibilities include:
Clinical Leadership & Program Development
- Establish clinical protocols, guidelines, and best practices for structural heart interventions as well as drive innovation and adoption of new technologies and procedures
- Lead multidisciplinary heart team meetings and case selection conferences
Quality & Outcomes
- Monitor quality metrics and clinical outcomes, including oversight of data collection and submission to national registries
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit and retain specialized structural heart team members and provide leadership and training opportunities for support staff
Strategic Planning & Growth
- Develop strategic plans for program growth, expand referral networks, and collaborate with marketing on promotion and outreach
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with members of Northwell’s Cardiovascular Institute as well as other departments and hospital administration
Academic Focus
- Promote and enhance all aspects of the academic mission, including training and education as well as innovation and research

The Institute’s Centers of Excellence (Arrhythmia, Atherosclerosis, Heart/Lung Failure, Prevention/Wellness, Pediatric/Adult Congenital, Valvular, Vascular, Women’s Heart Health) focus on the cardiovascular patient and care team to provide comprehensive, expert care across the network. Our clinical programs are comprehensive, and cover all possible areas within cardiovascular medicine, intervention, and surgery. Our ~400 cardiologists take care of patients across 100 office locations and 23 hospitals and we take a team-based approach to provide innovative heart care for what others call “untreatable.” Given Northwell’s vast geography, we have designated regional leads who are empowered to steward the region and work with other regional and system representatives to ensure consistent and streamlined strategies and oversight.
