Description
The Michigan House Democratic Fund (MHDF) is seeking a talented and driven Field Director for the 2026 election cycle. This individual will play a key role in helping Democrats retake the majority in the Michigan House of Representatives — one of the most critical battleground chambers in the country.
The Field Director will be responsible for developing and executing the MHDF’s voter contact operation and managing the day-to-day field priorities of campaign managers, volunteers, and fellows. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and supervising staff and volunteers; organizing and facilitating campaign events; and representing the campaign at community and political events.
The ideal candidate can run an ambitious relational program, has strong interpersonal and technical skills, and can think strategically about running a voter contact program in state house districts across Michigan.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute a large-scale field and organizing plan
- Design, implement, and track systems, structures, and goal ramps to drive field performance
- Provide leadership, resources, guidance, and technical support to campaigns, campaign managers, and volunteers in every stage of the cycle
- Manage campaign managers’ field efforts and programs
- Organize, lead, and attend volunteer training and campaign events
- Maintain accurate and reliable field data in VoteBuilder
- Provide the campaign team with weekly quantitative and qualitative reports as part of an ongoing evaluation of the program’s success
Compensation:
$80,000-90,000 plus comprehensive health insurance package including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
This position is located in Lansing, MI.

Requirements
Experience, Skills, and Characteristics:
- Experience working in Michigan or strong familiarity with the state’s political landscape preferred
- Two cycles of field experience, one cycle in a management role preferred
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, especially conflict resolution, listening, and ability to communicate professionally and empathetically
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to not only stay organized yourself but also to help ensure others are organized
- Comfort and ability to seek support and resources from others, including receiving and incorporating feedback
- Experience using NGP VAN is required. Experience with Mobilize, Reach, Scale to Win, or similar system(s) is preferred, but not required
- Must have a driver license and access to reliable transportation
- Willingness to work irregular hours and weekends
