Description
Our client is a well-established international financial institution with a strong presence across Asia. Due to continued business growth, they are seeking a mid-level candidate to join their Finance team and take ownership of group reporting, proprietary trading finance, and regulatory reporting activities.Key Responsibilities
Primary focus - Financial & Group Reporting
- Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, provisions, and fair value adjustments.
- Prepare management accounts, financial statements, and analytical reviews.
- Manage group reporting and consolidation processes, including intercompany reconciliations and reporting packages.
- Provide insightful analysis on trading performance, balance sheet movements, and key financial drivers.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning initiatives.
Secondary focus - Proprietary Trading Finance & Financial Control
- Oversee daily accounting and ledger booking for proprietary trading activities, including equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, interest rate swaps, OTC derivatives, and structured products.
- Ensure accurate recording of trades, settlements, funding activities, corporate actions, and P&L attribution.
- Perform trade-to-ledger reconciliations between front-office systems, clearing brokers, custodians, and the general ledger.
- Review and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly trading P&L and balance sheet positions.
- Support valuation processes and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and fair value methodologies are applied.
Potential exposure - Regulatory Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and review regulatory returns and financial schedules in accordance with Hong Kong regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable SFC regulations, Financial Resources Rules (FRR), and financial reporting standards.
- Liaise with regulators, external auditors, internal auditors, and compliance teams on finance-related matters.
- Support regulatory inspections, audits, and ad hoc information requests.
Potential exposure - Controls & Process Enhancement
- Strengthen internal controls surrounding trading-related accounting, cash management, and financial reporting.
- Participate in finance transformation initiatives, system enhancements, reporting automation, and control improvement projects.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures for trading activities and financial reporting processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in group reporting, financial control, or regulatory reporting within a securities firm, investment bank, proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, or SFC-licensed corporation.
- Strong knowledge of HKFRS / IFRS, fair value accounting, financial reporting, consolidation, and regulatory reporting.
- Experience supporting proprietary trading activities across multiple asset classes is preferred but not a must.
- Experience with Hong Kong Financial Resources Rules (FRR) and SFC regulatory reporting is preferred but not a must.
- Prior Big 4 audit experience within Financial Services would be an advantage.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial systems such as Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English and Cantonese; Mandarin proficiency would be an advantage.
