Position Summary
Triton Resources II, LLC is seeking an experienced HR & Payroll Manager to own and execute all human resources and payroll functions for a growing water transfer and management operation in Colorado’s DJ Basin. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the full employee lifecycle, regulatory compliance, payroll accuracy, and driving HR processes that support field operations and company growth.
The ideal candidate brings proven experience managing multi-state payroll, employment law compliance, and HR administration in blue-collar, field-heavy environments—preferably oil & gas, construction, or industrial services.

Core Responsibilities
Payroll Management
Own end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery
Audit timecards, resolve discrepancies, and enforce proper coding of regular, overtime, and per diem hours
Administer all payroll deductions including garnishments, child support orders, damage deductions, benefits withholdings, and SIMPLE IRA contributions
Manage year-end payroll close including W-2 preparation, reconciliation, and filing coordination with external tax partners
Serve as system administrator for Paycom (or equivalent HRIS/payroll platform); manage configurations, reporting, and troubleshooting
Ensure payroll tax compliance across applicable jurisdictions and coordinate with accounting on GL reconciliation
HR Administration & Compliance
Act as the first point of contact for employee grievances. Lead internal investigations, draft corrective action documentation, and advise supervisors on disciplinary procedures
Maintain complete, audit-ready employee files including I-9s, W-4s, offer letters, disciplinary records, and policy acknowledgements
Ensure adherence and compliance with federal and Colorado labor laws including FLSA, FAMLI, COMPS, FMLA, ADA, and EEO requirements
Draft, update, and enforce company policies, employee handbook, and standard operating procedures
Manage workers’ compensation claims, coordinate with the carrier, and maintain OSHA 300 logs
Recruiting, Onboarding/Offboarding and Performance Evaluations
Manage full-cycle recruiting: job postings, screening, interviews, offers, and background/drug testing
Execute structured onboarding including orientation scheduling, equipment issuance tracking, safety training coordination, and first-week check-ins
Process offboarding: final pay calculation per Colorado WAGES Act, benefits termination, equipment recovery, and exit documentation
Manage performance evaluation cycles, ensuring timely completion, accurate documentation, and alignment with organizational goals
Benefits Administration
Administer all employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life/AD&D, and SIMPLE IRA retirement plan
Manage open enrollment, qualifying life events, COBRA administration, and carrier communications
Reconcile benefits invoices and coordinate premium deductions with payroll
Evaluate benefit offerings annually and present cost/value analysis to leadership
Reporting & Process Improvement
Deliver actionable reporting on headcount, turnover, overtime, and labor costs
Drive process improvements to increase accuracy, reduce manual work, and strengthen regulatory compliance
Ensure audit readiness and serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits across payroll, benefits, and employment practices
Partner with the Director of Accounting and Finance and Director of Operations on budgeting, forecasting, and workforce planning
Required Qualifications
5+ years of direct experience managing payroll and HR functions, including at least 2 years in a lead role with end-to-end responsibility, ideally within a startup or high-growth environment
Demonstrated expertise in full-cycle payroll processing for 50+ employees including tax filings, garnishments, and year-end reporting
Working knowledge of federal and Colorado employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COMPS, FAMLI, WAGES Act, EEO)
Experience administering an HRIS/payroll platform (Paycom strongly preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel at an intermediate level or above, Outlook, Word, SharePoint)
Proven ability to handle confidential information with absolute discretion
Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging with field crews, supervisors, and executive leadership
Self-directed with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
PHR, SHRM-CP, or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
Prior experience in oil & gas, construction, or industrial field services
Familiarity with DOT compliance, safety program administration, or workers’ compensation management
Bilingual English/Spanish
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $75,000 – $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Work Environment
This position is based at Triton’s La Salle, CO facility with regular interaction across field sites in the DJ Basin. The role requires occasional travel to job sites. Standard schedule is Monday–Friday with periodic availability outside normal hours during payroll processing, audits, or urgent personnel matters.
