Description

The Village of Mokena is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Maintenance Worker I within the Utilities Department. This position performs a variety of general labor, maintenance, and equipment operation duties supporting the Village’s water and wastewater facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the repair of broken water mains and other water distribution system maintenance.
• Repair and maintain sanitary sewer manholes and related infrastructure.
• Clean sanitary sewers, culverts, gutters, and other drainage structures using sewer jetting equipment or hand tools.
  Perform utility locating activities.
• Perform periodic maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery associated with wastewater treatment facilities.
• Operate trucks, tractors, mowers, snowplows, spreaders, and similar equipment as assigned.
• Maintain Village grounds, including mowing, brush cutting, landscaping, and vegetation maintenance.
• Perform janitorial and general facility maintenance duties.
• Participate in snow and ice control operations.
• Perform related Public Works and Utilities duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of basic maintenance tools, materials, and equipment.
• Knowledge of workplace hazards and applicable safety precautions.
• Some knowledge of the operation and maintenance of trucks, tractors, mowers, and similar equipment.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License with the ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in indoor and outdoor environments.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
• Ability to work around moving equipment and in wet, hot, cold, noisy, and other challenging field conditions.
   

Salary & Benefits:

• Starting annual salary is $68,494.23 with structured step increases and annual cost of living adjustments.
