Summary
ASTI Environmental is seeking a relationship-driven environmental professional who is interested in leveraging their technical project management experience into a more strategic business development role. This position is ideal for an experienced Environmental Project Manager, Senior Consultant, or Client Manager who enjoys building client relationships, identifying opportunities, and helping shape project strategy while still collaborating closely with technical teams.
The Manager of New Business Development will focus on growing and strengthening client partnerships, identifying and securing new work, and supporting proposal and business strategy efforts across environmental service lines. The role offers the opportunity to transition from day-to-day project execution into a leadership-oriented client development position with strong visibility and impact across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Pursues and develops business relationships and opportunities for the firm and increases revenue to meet assigned targets.
- Coordinates business development activities such as client meetings and networking events with Directors at ASTI Environmental to ensure availability and participation from staff.
- Ensures business development activities are aligned with corporate goals and ASTI’s vision.
- Supports management in the development and implementation of business and marketing strategies.
- Researches and gathers information on potential clients and projects.
- Schedules meetings with prospective clients to uncover project opportunities.
- Identifies and tracks business opportunities with internal accounting and/or Client Relationship Manager (CRM) systems.
- Works with technical staff to develop proposals and scopes of work.
- Makes commitments on behalf of the firm.
- Develops and maintains a strong business network.
- Establishes and maintains on-going client relationships with the various parties to anticipate and resolve potential problems.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal networks and participating in community, professional and client organizations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Formal Education, Licenses and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or related discipline preferred.
- Professional certifications such as PG, PE, CHMM, or similar credentials are valued but not required.
Knowledge and Experience

10+ years of experience in environmental consulting, environmental project management, remediation, compliance, due diligence, industrial hygiene, ecological services, or related environmental disciplines.

Prior experience managing environmental projects and client relationships required.

Exposure to proposal development, client engagement, networking, or business development activities strongly preferred.

Demonstrated ability to develop trust with clients and identify opportunities for additional services.

Understanding of environmental consulting processes, project lifecycles, and regulatory environments.

Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary technical teams.

Existing industry relationships and regional market knowledge are a plus.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This is a largely a sedentary role: however, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to type, file or lift market materials up to 20 pounds.
Availability
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Requires the ability to occasionally work in the evening/night.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. Spends the majority of time outside of the office attending events and meetings representing ASTI Environmental and PEA Group
