Description

The Maryland State Retirement & Pension System (SRPS) is seeking a Managing Director of Real Assets within its Investment Division.  The Managing Director leads a team of investment professionals responsible for meeting risk and return objectives, and establishes investment strategy and program goals, particularly as they relate to real estate, infrastructure and natural resources investments.

Requirements

This position responsibilities include:

• Provides direct leadership, oversight and management of professional investment staff, external investment managers and consultants.

• Establishes overall investment management program goals, standards, and controls to meet risk and return objectives. 

• Monitors and manages relationships with external investment managers for the Real Assets asset class. 

• Execute on Investment Division and enterprise level initiatives and priorities. Represent the Investment Division on cross-enterprise leadership groups, project teams, and working groups which align with meeting enterprise strategic business planning objectives.

• Work closely with the System’s Board, Executive Office, and stakeholders as and when needed. Create and present complex investment positions to the Board of Trustees, Investment Committee and other bodies. Represent the Investment Division, the CIO, or MSRA at external forums, conferences, stakeholder groups, or federal/state legislative bodies.
• Oversees the due diligence process, reviewing portfolio holdings and strategies, analyzing performance and compliance with investment guidelines.
