Job Posting Title: Senior Investment Product Manager
Job Description Summary:
Responsible for supporting the Head of Product in managing the Public investment product platform for Wealth Management. Oversees, working closely with the Senior Product Manager, key operational and strategic initiatives across the product lifecycle, including product launches/closures, platform integrations, governance, field support, and competitive intelligence. Works cross-functionally with research, operations, compliance, NTAM, Third Party Managers, and the Portfolio Advisors to ensure the product shelf competitive and meets the needs of our clients across the platform.
Major Duties:
- Supports the Head of Product in managing cross-functional product initiatives including new product launches, product sunsets, and platform changes. Coordinates with research, operations, compliance, legal, Third Party Managers and NTAM to ensure end-to-end execution.
- Serves as primary point of contact for field product inquiries regarding Product Strategy. Builds and maintains relationships with advisors and regional leadership to understand product needs and gather feedback to propose new products for approval on the platform.
- As needed, supports product governance processes including preparation of materials for the Investment Advisory Committee (IAC) and Centrally Managed Solutions Committee (CMSC).
- Functions as key liaison between the CIO office, research, operations, compliance, NTAM, Third Party Managers and the advisory field to ensure product development and implementation needs are addressed, prioritized, and met across all stakeholders.
- Conducts competitive intelligence and market analysis to benchmark Northern Trust's product offerings against peers. Tracks industry trends in product packaging, pricing, and distribution to inform product strategy recommendations.
- Assists with product communication plans for launches, sunsets, and changes, including drafting advisor-facing materials, FAQs, trade notices, and coordination with marketing and field leadership. Supports the CMS offering as needed, including product life cycle oversight and execution, and model portfolio field support.
- Knowledge of investment products (mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, model portfolios, alternative investments) and the wealth management product lifecycle is critical to job execution. Understanding of how products integrate into advisory platforms and client portfolios.
- Knowledge of product operations, systems, and data workflows acquired through work experience. Familiarity with investment reporting systems, portfolio management platforms (e.g., Charles River).
- Knowledge of product governance, compliance requirements, and regulatory frameworks applicable to investment products in a trust and fiduciary environment.
- Project management skills are needed to coordinate cross-functional product initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups. Planning, organizational, and leadership skills needed to manage workstreams independently.
- 15+ years of experience in investment product management, product operations, or a related role within asset management or wealth management. Direct experience with product lifecycle management, product launches, and platform integrations preferred.
- Experience working with advisory or distribution teams is highly valued. Candidates with a combination of product operations and client-facing/distribution experience are strongly preferred.
- Experience with data reporting, competitive analysis, and process improvement in a
- Bachelor's degree required. CFA, CFP, or other investment-related designations are a plus but not required.
$137,400 - 233,600 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
