EDG IncJob Summary:
EDGTECH is seeking Automation Professionals with strong experience in RockwellAutomation platforms to support offshore Oil & Gas facility. This rolefocuses on the development, deployment, and long-term reliability ofControlLogix systems, FactoryTalk View applications, and Plant Control Network(PCN) infrastructure. Candidates will play a key role in maintaining systemuptime, optimizing performance, and ensuring secure, resilient automationplatforms.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Configure, test, and commission Rockwell Automationsystems, including ControlLogix PLCs and FactoryTalk View SE/ME applications;
• Maintain and support Plant Control Network (PCN)infrastructure, including system communications, network architecture, andcybersecurity best practices;
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SCADA, HMI,PLC logic, and network performance to ensure high system availability andreliability;
• Develop, modify, and maintain FactoryTalk View graphics,global objects, and HMI standards;
• Interpret, analyze, and redline engineering deliverables(P&IDs, Control Narratives, Cause & Effects) with a focus onimplementation;
• Develop and implement Control Narratives, Cause &Effects, and PLC logic using structured, reusable standards (AOIs, UDTs,routines);
• Build and maintain alarm strategies includingparticipation in alarm rationalization and implementation within FactoryTalkAlarm & Events;
• Configure and maintain FactoryTalk services, includingDirectory, Alarms & Events, and Historian integrations;
• Support PCN system reliability initiatives, includingredundancy management, failover testing, patching strategies, and systembackups;
• Participate in and lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT);
• Collaborate with operations and IT teams to ensure propersegmentation between PCN and business networks, including firewall and remoteaccess solutions;
• Provide technical support for ongoing operations,including troubleshooting, system health monitoring, and continuous improvementefforts;
• Contribute to automation standards development, systemarchitecture design, and long-term platform lifecycle planning;
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering,Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or similardiscipline preferred;
• Ten (10) or more years of technical experiencedesigning and implementing control systems (PLC and DCS);
• Ten (10) or more years of total experience inthe automation industry;
• Current HUET certification or thewillingness and ability to attain certification required;
• Technical hands-on knowledge of relatedengineering systems, engineering calculations, application of engineering andconstruction methods and materials, and engineering application of computersoftware;
• Desire to learnplant production processes, systems, and new technologies;
• Knowledge of project execution in automationprojects;
• Knowledge of industry / regulatory codes andstandards;
• Skill in oral and written communication;
• Strong organizational skills related toengineering activities.
Working Conditions:
• Requires travel to offshore oil and gasplatforms/rigs;
• Field duties require outdoor work in an offshoreindustrial facility type atmosphere;
• Interaction with other team members, as well assupervisors and client personnel;
• Working around production machinery with potentiallyextreme noise levels;
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes;
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.
Physical Requirements (With or without ReasonableAccommodation):
• Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50)pounds;
• Willingness and ability to navigate offshore oilrigs (e.g. stairs & ladders);
• Willingness and ability to travel withoutlimitation via helicopters and boats, including swing ropes and personnelbaskets;
• Willingness and ability to work in extremeweather conditions and hazardous atmospheres with appropriate safety trainingand equipment provided;
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing orother communication capabilities which permit the employee to communicateeffectively;
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
• Sufficient vision or other powers of observationwhich permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
• Sufficient manual dexterity which permit theemployee to perform routine office duties;
• Sufficient personal mobility and physicalreflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-sitelocations.
