Travel: Up to 15%: Approximately 8x per year to facilities in Dallas, TX and Pittsburgh, PA.
Experience: 3 years of experience in hardware reliability or related. Requires skills and experience to involve: Deep understanding of hardware reliability related to autonomous vehicles. Strong understanding of reliability testing methodologies, statistical analysis, Fishbone diagrams, 8D (Eight Disciplines) methodology, and fault tree analysis. Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis. Demonstrated understanding of hardware debugging and diagnostic tools for oscilloscopes and environmental sensors. Demonstrated experience conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Job duties: The Staff Hardware Reliability Engineer position will develop and implement reliability testing protocols for computer-related hardware components in autonomous vehicles to ensure optimal performance across various environmental conditions. Confer with engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational performance requirements of overall autonomous vehicle system. Identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware-related issues impacting vehicle and fleet reliability. Analyze information from fleet of autonomous vehicles to identify trends, predict potential hardware failures, and initiate corrective actions. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for hardware-related failures related to autonomous vehicle technologies, ensuring data integrity and continuity across the fleet. Create and maintain documentation on reliability testing results, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to support continuous improvement initiatives. Provide technical support and guidance on hardware reliability issues to internal teams and external partners throughout product development and implementation process.
