While some work is done in an indoor environment, frequently work is out in the field engaged in activities which will expose the position holder to various weather elements, loud noises, fumes, below ground surface spaces, heights over four feet, confined spaces, wet environments, and temperature extremes while on a job site(s).

Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and movement of the whole body, such as required in climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

Ability to work off scissor lift, aerial lift, and ladder.

7:30am 4:15pm (Monday Friday)

Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors, emergencies, crisis management, and/or weather-related factors requiring night(s), weekends(), and holiday(s) response.

Reporting to the Utilities Distribution Systems Supervisor, this entry-level position will learn and be trained to perform utilities distribution requirements ensuring the University of Kentucky Lexington Healthcare and Academic Campuses have building utility systems that function properly and are safe and pleasant for students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors.

The Utilities Distribution Technician Associate will learn the value added by reducing the need for emergency repairs, extending the lives of equipment and saving money; and how prompt restoration of service limits business interruptions and may save lives.

MS Windows/Office; KRONOS; SAP

Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with mechanical hand/power tools; Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals — preferred; Capability to lift heavy loads (50lbs+), work outdoors in inclement weather, and perform tasks like walking/crawling/climbing/crouching; Ability to work in teams as well as independently.

High School Diploma or GED + 1 year of relevant experience (i.e.) manual labor, landscaping, cleaning, warehouse, maintenance repairs.
