Job Description:
Payments Technology Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of strategic payment initiatives across Corporate Banking platforms. This is a techno-functional role which acts as the bridge between business stakeholders, product managers, operations, architecture, development, infrastructure, information security and external partners to ensure successful implementation of payment products, regulatory mandates, and platform modernization projects.
He or She will drive end-to-end projects execution which will include but not limited to payment domains; domestic and cross-border payments, real-time payments, SWIFT, ISO 20022, cash management, and payment processing platforms while ensuring compliance, scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Support Program & Delivery
- Drive large-scale payments transformation projects.
- Manage end-to-end delivery across Agile frameworks.
- Drive governance, RAID management, and executive reporting.
Payments Leadership
- Deliver domestic, cross-border, real-time, and ISO 20022 payment initiatives.
- Contribute to shaping future-state payment capabilities and operating models.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with business, operations, risk, compliance, and technology leaders.
- Manage vendors, regulators, and payment networks.
Technology Oversight
- Support technology transformation initiatives pertaining to microservices, Cloud, API, and AI deployment initiatives.
- Ensure scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.
Regulatory & Risk
- Deliver regulatory and audit-driven programs.
- Manage risk, compliance, and cybersecurity requirements.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure that execution is aligned with product strategy by working with the product management team and other stakeholders
- Lead production readiness, release governance, and service stability.
Leadership and People Management
- Builds and manages teams by performing financial activities to inform workforce strategy and hiring practices, setting and tracking maturity and quality objectives, and training employees/teams to address feedback and achieve quality and performance objectives.
- Facilitates performance and career development of employees/teams through performance reviews, coaching, and creating development plans that are needed to build competencies and skills
- Creates an inclusive and healthy working environment while helping to resolve organizational impediments/blockers.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in banking technology, payments, or transaction banking.
- 5+ years of program/project management experience delivering payment initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Corporate Banking Payments
- SWIFT MT/MX messaging
- ISO 20022
- Real-Time Payments
- Cross-Border Payments
- Payment hubs and processing systems
- Experience managing multi-country and multi-vendor programs.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery, DevOps, and release management.
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously, juggle multiple projects, and use own initiative to meet deadlines and set priorities without close supervision.
- Strong team player both internally and across multiple teams within a project.
- Able to both consider the "big picture" of a development as well as more detailed component levels.
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Pro-active, adaptable and results driven.
Desired Skills:
- PMP, Prince2, Agile Scrum, SAFe, or equivalent certification.
- Knowledge of APAC payment regulations, screening sanctions, AML, and fraud controls.
- Familiarity with payment schemes such as FAST, PayNow, DuitNow, UPI, RTGS, ACH.
- Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills as well as effective Relationship Management.
- Able to interact professionally with a diverse group at all levels, including:
- Senior Executives and Managers
- Business Analysts, Consultants and Subject Matter Experts
- Development and testing technicians
- Business sponsors and Change Managers
- External vendors.
- Business user groups (as/if required).
- Strong negotiation skills and able to handle conflicting situations with perseverance and professionalism. Communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
