Business FunctionGroup Finance aims to deliver world-class standards in reporting, financial planning and finance processes. We provide insights and analyses that help the bank make sound business decisions - whether in the areas of product development or customer profitability. We also provide capital management, business planning, forecasting, and tax and accounting advisory services.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced product/financial controller to join our Global Financial Markets Business Finance team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening the bank's financial control framework and ensuring robust end to end control processes within a dynamic and complex financial landscape. This position presents a distinctive opportunity to directly influence the integrity and robustness of our financial reporting, foster collaboration with senior leaders across diverse departments to enhance comprehension of the bank's operations and strategic direction, and contribute meaningfully to the strategic growth of our Global Financial Markets business
Responsibilities:
- Drive the establishment and continuous enhancement of end-to-end control processes across the entire lifecycle of treasury products, vanilla & structured. This includes supporting new product launches, financial booking, valuation, hedge accounting, and regulatory reporting, ensuring the integrity and robustness of control frameworks for treasury products and their associated derivative hedges, from inception to maturity.
- Leverage extensive experience with a diverse range of treasury products to provide expert guidance and oversight in product control functions. This includes performing in-depth analysis of P&L attribution, balance sheet substantiation, and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial statements
- Provide holistic support and expert guidance to navigate fast-evolving regulatory changes impacting financial market products. This includes proactive adaptation within the end-to-end control framework, leading efforts in supporting financial and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of treasury products and complex accounting standards, coupled with practical expertise in hedge accounting principles (e.g., fair value, cash flow, net investment hedges) and their effective application in a dynamic financial market environment.
- Utilize advanced proficiency in financial market systems, such as Murex, to enhance operational efficiency, ensure accurate data capture, validation, and reporting for treasury products. Champion initiatives to improve system utilization and data quality.
- Demonstrate a profound understanding of structured product booking intricacies, encompassing initial recognition, subsequent measurement, and their complete end-to-end process flows, including system configurations and data integrity.
- Interpret, implement, and enforce complex financial regulations and internal policies effectively, contributing to the bank's robust compliance framework and mitigating potential risks across Global Financial Markets.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in product control or financial reporting, with a significant portion ideally within a Global Financial Markets environment. This should include demonstrable experience in leading significant projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and enhancing end-to-end control processes within financial institutions.
- Strong practical experience with a broad range of treasury products. In-depth knowledge of financial instruments, valuation methodologies, and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in hedge accounting principles and their practical applications.
- Familiarity with financial market systems like Murex is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of complex structured product booking and their end-to-end processes.
- Good understanding of financial reporting requirements for complex structured financial products.
- Familiarization with HKMA regulatory reporting requirements in treasury products preferred.
- Good understanding of HKMA regulatory reporting processes and tools would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders, including senior management, business teams, and external auditors.
- Proven ability to drive collaboration, foster strong relationships across various teams, and effectively influence outcomes in a matrixed organization.
- A proactive, results-oriented leader capable of working effectively under pressure in a fast-paced Global Financial Markets environment, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
- Strategic thinking ability to interpret and apply complex financial regulations and internal policies strategically, contributing to the overall risk management and compliance posture of the bank
