- Water Infrastructure Program Manager
Description
This position assists the Chief of the Water Division with the technical operation of the water system and its long-term viability.
Duties include:
Collaborates with the Chief of the Water Division, Business Manager, and Field Supervisor to develop realistic operational goals and contributes to the accomplishment of these goals by routinely preparing and implementing supportive projects and plans.
Supervises and reviews the work of consultants, contractors and other outside vendors as they relate to the Water Division.
Assists in the development of the Water Division Capital Improvement Plans.
Maintains the water system asset files, lead and copper service line inventory, cross connection control compliance, and GIS.
Develops recommendations for amendments to the existing rules and regulations as necessary to conform with State laws, regulations, and effective practices for operating water distribution systems according to American Water Works Association (AWWA) standards.
Receives and reviews applications for new service connections, makes recommendations for actions by the applicant and the Water Division with respect to the new connections and completes the review in accordance with the Water Division's rules and regulations.
Supervises the inspection of new water system installations to ensure compliance with Water Division rules and regulations.
Supervises the maintenance of the asset records for the Water Division's physical assets and other related inventory items.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and a minimum of five years of related experience with municipal or other public water distribution systems; or a combination of substantially equivalent education and experience. An Associate or Bachelor of arts or science in engineering, biology, or a related field may substitute for some experience.
Must possess, or acquire within one year of appointment, a Grade III, RI Water Distribution Operator License, and maintain such a condition of employment. Applicants will be subject to a background criminal check prior to employment. Negative findings may prevent applicant from being considered.
Able to respond in person to emergency calls.
